Visalia's DeLeon wins welterweight title at 559 Fights 30

559 Fights was back in the South Valley Friday night November 1st, 2014.  The Holiday Inn in Visalia, Ca hosted 559 Fights 30. The fans were treated to nine amateur MMA bouts, including a welterweight title fight and the opening round of the featherweight championship tournament.

In the main event Fresno's (4-0) undefeated 559 Fights welterweight champion Garrett Marks looked to defend his title versus Visalia's (3-2) Jonathan DeLeon who took the fight on short notice. Marks came out swinging as usual but was met with the same intensity from his opponent.

DeLeon who trains out of Vitruvian Fight & Fitness answered back landing punches of his own before taking Marks down where he scored with some ground and pound in round 1. DeLeon got a take down to start round two, but Marks went for a armbar that looked to be tight, DeLeon escaped and continued to land shots from top position. DeLeon continued with his game plan of keeping Marks grounded as the fight went the distance. After three rounds judges scored the fight a split decision for Jonathan DeLeon making him the new 559 Fights welterweight champion.

The co main event would decide who would go to the finals in the featherweight championship tournament. Exeter's (4-2) Alex Valencia took on (3-1) Steven Ronneburg. Ronneburg took the fight to the ground in round one, but would have to fight off a armbar that Valencia went for. Ronneburg would move to full mount  but Valencia rolled him over to escape and in doing so got caught in a triangle choke that would force the tap in round 1. Steven Ronneburg moves on the to tournament finals.

Visalia's Devon Chavez took on Coalinga's Domingo Ramirez in the other featherweight championship tournament semi final. Chavez was able to control most of the fight with his ground game. Scoring with take downs and ground and pound in a fight that went the distance. Judges scored the fight a unanimous decision for Devon Chavez. The finals of the featherweight tournament are now set which will be Devon Chavez vs. Steven Ronneburg for the 559 Fights featherweight championship in January.

In other bouts, Mike Tubera defeats Carlos Hernandez by submission locking in a armbar that forced the tap in round 2.

Fresno's James Porter defeats defeats Daniel Manriques by split decision.

Dustin Toby out of Fresno defeats Ignacio Guzman by submission with a armbar in round 2.

Visalia's Diego Orozco stops Brandon O'Baker by TKO, using a hip toss to put O'Baker on his back. Orozco moved 'to full mount and rained down punches until the fight was stopped in round 1.

Tulare's Miguel Quiroz defeats Brandon Jacobo by unanimous decision.

Victor Rico defeats Frank Salazar by TKO, landing a barrage of punches on a covered up Salazar until the referee stopped the fight in round 1
