Kongo and Spartan advance to heavyweight tournament finals at Bellator 102

Visalia, Ca played host to the one the top MMA promotions in  the world, As Bellator packed the Visalia Convention Center Friday night October 4th, 2013. Known for "The toughest tournament in Sports", Bellator 102 would determine the finalist in the heavyweight and middleweight tournaments. An crown a winner in the  bantamweight tournament.

UFC vet (18-8-2) Cheick Kongo would make his Bellator debut in the main event. Taking on (8-1) Mark Godbeer. Kongo controlled the fight early with some take downs and work from the clinch in round one. Kongo continued to pressure Godbeer along the cage in round two, and found a home for some hard knees that had Godbeer hurt. Godbeer would look for a take down, but Kongo stuffed it and began to land some more knees along with some uppercuts that put Godbeer down and forced the referee to stop the fight at 2:04 in round 2. Kongo moves on to face Vinicius Spartan in the heavyweight tournament finals.

In the co main event  (6-3) Vinicius Spartan needed only :23 seconds to stamp his name in the finals of the Heavyweight Tournament.  Spartan landed a vicious right hand that put Fresno's (17-7) Lavar Johnson out, earning him a KO victory and a spot in the finals.

(17-3) Rafael Silva  wins the bantamweight tournament with his win over (13-5) Anthony Leone in the  finals. The fight would go the distance and after three rounds of action all three judges scored the fight (30-27) in favor of Silva.

(10-2) Mikkel Parlo  defeats (7-0) Jason Butcher  to advance to the Middleweight Tournament finals. Pario scored with his striking throughout the fight, with Butcher flopping to guard continuously to avoid the stand up game. After three rounds judges scored the fight (30-27, 29-28, 29-28).

(7-1) Brennan Ward  stops (7-0) Joe Pacheco to make his way into the Middleweight Tournament finals. Ward locked in a guillotine choke that put Pacheco to sleep at 2:41 in round 2.

(13-3) Scott Cleve defeats (9-5) Isaac DeJesus by tko, taking De Jesus down where got to full mount then moved to his back . Cleve would then rain down punches from behind until the referee stopped the fight at 3:14 in round 2.

Porterville's (5-3) Javy Ayala defeats (11-2) Thiago Santos by ko,

landing a punishing combo that sent Santos face first into the canvas at 5:00 in round 1.

(9-2) Brandon Girtz defeats (28-8) Poppies Martinez by submission, locking in arm bar that forced the tap at 1:20 in round 1.

(9-2) Stephen Martinez  puts (14-3) Bryan Travers to sleep with guillotine choke at only :56 seconds into round 1.

Woodlake's (4-0) Cain Carrizosa defeats (2-1) Juan Quesada by submission, locking in a triangle choke that would force the tap at 4:51 in round 2.

(7-3) Brandon Cash defeats (10-1) William Richey by tko 5:00 in round 2. Richey quit on the stool in the break after round 2.
